Biometrics
Biometrics refers to the identification of humans by their characteristics or traits. Within the Security industry Biometrics are used as a form of identification and access control.
Biometric identifiers are the distinctive, measurable characteristics used to label and describe individuals. Biometric identifiers are often categorized as physiological versus behavioral characteristics. A physiological biometric can be identified by one's voice, DNA, hand print or behavior. Behavioral biometrics are related to the behavior of a person.
Traditional versions of access control include token-key based identification (for example - photo id cards), or memory based identification ( for example - passwords / pin numbers) because biometrics identifiers are unique to everyone, it is a more reliable form of verifying a persons identity than traditional access control technologies.
SRI International have developed the most advanced and reliable biometric platform available on the market, Iris on the Move - Biometric Identification Systems. Iris recognition is the most reliable form of Biometric identification available.

Why IRIS Recognition?
•Iris recognition systems have been in the marketplace for about 15 years
•The most accurate, reliable, and stable identity authenticator available –Crossover Error Rate (FAR=FRR, lower is better) •Iris - .00077% ( <1 per 131,000) •Palm/Vein – 0.15% (1.5 per 1,000) •Fingerprint – 0.2% (2 per 1,000) •Hand geometry – 0.2% (2 per 1,000) •Voice – 2.0% (2 per 100) •Facial Recognition – 3.0% (3 per 100) |
•Non Transferrable •Protected Environment •Stable after 3 years of age •Can be combined with standard ID modes •Truly contactless •A single enrollment image can last a lifetime •No two irises are identical |
SRI Sarnoff tested its IOM Passport system in a one year long installation in its lobby, during which employees were identified as they entered the facility. Analysis of the test data collected during the final two-month phase of testing shows high performance.
