A thermal camera with high resolution is always the best option. This is very important in all aspects and industry, especially with regards to applications like military and perimeter security.When it comes to infrared camera resolution, think in terms of a digital camera: the higher the pixel counts, the better the resolution will be, and the resulting images will be sharper. However, with regards to thermal cameras, your concern should be more on the ‘detector resolution’ (the resolution detected) and not on the ‘LCD resolution’ (the resolution on the LCD screen). Think of it this way, even if you have a high resolution LCD, but the detected resolution is very low, then the image on the LCD screen will still be blurry. In as much as if you have an HD smartphone with a low quality camera, the pictures will still appear disappointing. Keep in mind that no matter how good the screen is, if the image captured is really poor, then the image will still appear poor.In addition to this, choose a thermal camera that will allow you to save JPEG formats. There are some infrared cameras that do not allow for this, and will require further software installation or upgrade before they become capable of doing so – avoid these as much as possible.
