Thermal image cameras - Home energy inspection

​With the growing concerns of global warming, there is a greater awareness in terms of the responsibility to reduce carbon footprint. One of the basic step is to understand the energy efficiency of one's house which can be easily done through thermal image cameras. 
Home energy inspection involves an audit which analyses the various heat flows in the house and can easily identify faulty insulation, gas leaks, faulty electrical circuits etc. and define steps to reduce the energy wastage. Thermal image cameras use infrared radiations to form an image. They use a technique called density slicing where monochromatic images are displayed in a pseudo colour so that human eye can see the intensity differences. 
In case of temperature measurement, the warmest areas are coloured white, intermediate temperature as red and yellow and the coolest parts as blue. The area and resistance to heat flow is recorded during an energy audit done using thermal image cameras.
